I thoroughly enjoyed Rebecca Talley's latest book, Heaven Scent. I bought it to read, but my fifteen year old daughter
quickly snatched it away before I could even read it. She couldn't put it down, and I think she read the entire book in one
sitting.

When I got my turn to read it, I could see why. It was a compelling story about a young girl and the trials she faced. It
takes an unexpected turn that is very touching. You'll definitely need a box of tissues!

My favorite part of the book was Rebecca's portrayal of the main character, Liza. It was perfect. She captured the
angst, self-consciousness, and the up and down rollercoaster emotions, we all have as teenagers, in a way that made
me feel what Liza was feeling. I loved the character and would like to read more of her story.

Heaven Scent—what a cool title. It meant so much more to me after I
finished reading the book and realized just what a play on words the title
is. I love the foreshadowing that Rebecca does in this book to build up to
quite an amazing event and storyline. She has a great blend of a little
romantic tension and plenty of physical and emotional action.

This is a great read and was a good reminder to me of how it must feel
when people don’t know God. It’s hard to imagine not knowing how to
pray because I pray every day and have known prayer all my life. I’m
grateful for the personal relationship that I feel with my Heavenly Father,
the knowledge that He really knows ME, and cares about me. Thanks
Rebecca, for the great story and good reminder woven so artfully within
the story.

This story depicts real young adult challenges as we
watch Liza struggle with increasing difficulties in her
life. Tragedy strikes, and I have to say even though it
clearly states that on the back cover, I was surprised. I
was not expecting it. The tragedy puts things into
perspective for Liza and presents further challenges.
She has to find room in her heart for forgiveness and
possibly for acceptance of a religion that seems strange
to her.

I recommend this book for any young adult who is
looking for a story to enrich their lives and give them
much to think about.

Heaven Scent is a touching story
that both young women and adults
will enjoy. Just be sure to have a
box of tissues and family members
nearby when you read it—the
tissues for the tears, and the family
members so you can hug them and
feel grateful that they’re with you.

Last Saturday I sat down to read a book for review and spent every spare moment over the next
24 hours finishing it. It's been ages since a book grabbed me by the nostrils and pulled me into it
so strongly that it was effort stopping long enough to eat, let alone feed anyone else.

The book was
Heaven Scent by Rebecca Talley.

Heaven Scent is about a young basketball star who seems to have it all, and for the most part
she does--everything but her father's attention. It was a story about forgiveness that goes far
beyond that which anyone would normally have to endure. I was very caught up in the characters
and their lives. Rebecca is masterful in her ability to create characters the reader cares about.
I spent the last hour and a half of my reading time almost sobbing, and that's not something
I've EVER done. The instant I finished I passed the book on to my mother, who stayed up half
the night reading it and bawled her head off just like I did. The emotional power and beauty
were too much to hold inside.

I won't give it all away, because I don't want to ruin it for you. Go out and buy the book
because my description of what happens will not come anywhere near to giving you a true
understanding of the story. It's something that must be experienced. It would be like trying to
describe chocolate.

So, here's a big standing ovation from this little corner of the net, and Rebecca--I can't wait
to see what you come up with next! You've made a truly devoted fan out of me!
